Theresa Mather, Artist Guest of Honor
A professional artist since 1989, Theresa Mather creates fantasy works featuring a variety of unusual creatures. She is best known for her pieces painted on feathers and stone, integrating her paintings with the natural colors and textures of the surface. Theresa draws much of her inspiration from the world around her, which has given many of her recent paintings a definite southwestern flair.
Theresa Mather is an artist who chooses to work outside of gaming and publication. She exhibits and sells her work at science fiction convention art shows across the country. She is also active in the field of antique carousel restoration and has painted suites of large scale paintings for the crestings of 5 antique carousels and done decorative paintwork for a sixth. One of the carousels she has worked on is located here in San Jose at the Eastridge Mall.
Besides painting, Theresa enjoys a riding roller coasters among other things along with her self proclaimed Svengali, Barry Short. Don't worry, Theresa is happy to let him think he is her Svengali. Theresa and her husband Barry reside in Cedar City, Utah, where they enjoy hiking and exploring in the many nearby national parks.
